What a cute story! This book is for those who think change is impossible。 The Bad Seed shows that anyone can change for the better! A cute and humorous story。

This book is an especially timely story for the 3-6 year old who explores the role of the disagreeable or naughty child。 (Most 3-6 year olds。) While the plot is predictable---the bad seed turns good in the end--- there is a great pre-story to explain why the seed became “bad”; and the predictable ending is nuanced when the reformed seed explains that he still forgets to listen。。。 and “all kinds of other bad stuff。” He’s “sort of a mix。” He may be a mix but he is definitely loveable, and the char This book is an especially timely story for the 3-6 year old who explores the role of the disagreeable or naughty child。 (Most 3-6 year olds。) While the plot is predictable---the bad seed turns good in the end--- there is a great pre-story to explain why the seed became “bad”; and the predictable ending is nuanced when the reformed seed explains that he still forgets to listen。。。 and “all kinds of other bad stuff。” He’s “sort of a mix。” He may be a mix but he is definitely loveable, and the charming seed-character illustrations bring that home。 。。。more

One of my new favoritesI think this story is relatable for all of us。 We feel like we're bad when we really aren't as bad as we think we are。 We all have some good in us if we just look deep enough😀 One of my new favoritesI think this story is relatable for all of us。 We feel like we're bad when we really aren't as bad as we think we are。 We all have some good in us if we just look deep enough😀 。。。more

Super cute。 I think it's important that it pointed out a traumatic event to trace "bad" behavior back to, but also shows that you don't have to be perfect to be considered a good person AND that everyone/anyone can change behaviors。 A cute book with a good message! Allegory that anyone can apply at any age!I’m 34, and this helps me to remember that even though drug addicts in my life have done bad things, it doesn’t mean that they’re bad people- just people in pain, trying to change— they are people who have good qualities to them and some hurtful qualities to them。 It’s a mix。 Try to see the person as a whole, even if they’ve pained you。

Read with Mommy。I liked the different kinds of seed that were talking to him。 It's silly that he didn't put the cart back where it belonged。 Read with Mommy。I liked the different kinds of seed that were talking to him。 It's silly that he didn't put the cart back where it belonged。 。。。more

The Bad Seed is a cute book that teaches kids that it is okay if they aren’t a “good seed” sometimes as long as they keep trying to be one。

Este libro lo recomiendo mucho para aquellos pequeñines que están aprendiendo a manejar sus emociones y distinguir las buenas acciones de las malas。 Es una historia muy triste pero a la vez, muy bella。

I read The Cool Bean first and that was alright。 I liked this one a little better because it had more of a point and a lesson to be learned。 I read The Cool Bean first and that was alright。 I liked this one a little better because it had more of a point and a lesson to be learned。 。。。more

The Bad Seed by Jory JohnSummary: A sunflower seed claims to be a bad seed。 He does all kinds of terrible things。 The reason he is a bad seed is because of a traumatizing experience。 Then the seed doesn’t want to be bad anymore and decides to change。 He then demonstrates how he is no longer just a bad seed。Rating: I thought this was a cute book。 The illustrations were beautiful and the way the story was written was phenomenal。 Use in Classroom: I would use this book as a way to teach students ab The Bad Seed by Jory JohnSummary: A sunflower seed claims to be a bad seed。 He does all kinds of terrible things。 The reason he is a bad seed is because of a traumatizing experience。 Then the seed doesn’t want to be bad anymore and decides to change。 He then demonstrates how he is no longer just a bad seed。Rating: I thought this was a cute book。 The illustrations were beautiful and the way the story was written was phenomenal。 Use in Classroom: I would use this book as a way to teach students about change。 A person can change if and only of they want to。 I would also point out that the other seeds notice that the “bad seed” was no longer just a bad seed。 An activity I would do is have the student grow a seed。 We would then make the connection between growth and change。 。。。more

A mixed bag。 What makes a person or seed bad anyway? And are they always like this? And do they have to stay that way? That's what this one is about。 It presumably would raise questions and maybe conversation。 The art is good enough。 The text is a bit repetitive but not nearly as much as it could be。 The ending could be a bit stronger。 A mixed bag。 What makes a person or seed bad anyway? Bad/GoodI liked the bad seed turn into a good seed。 I liked how he started opening doors for others。 *words from my child。I’d say it’s a little dark in the deep rooted story of being separated from family, captured, stored in dark places, starting to get eaten alive by something bigger, then reestablish their life in society。

Reflections and lessons learned:Wonderfully sinister narration voice to match the story - despite the nutritional value I’ve always thought sunflower seeds to be naughty looking - is it the stripy prison style uniform encasing the oily but sweet soft fatty treat?
